John's Handyman Service was started in Preston for one reason: homeowners kept telling us the same story. The job was small, the tradie didn't call back, and the list kept growing. We built the business to be the opposite of that.

After 5 years in the trade across Preston and the surrounding suburbs, John started John's Handyman Service as an owner-operated business. That means the person who quotes your job is the person who does it. There are no subcontractors, no handing your job to someone you've never met, and no one to chase when something needs following up.
The work covers the jobs that pile up in a real home — repairs, minor carpentry, painting, tiling and flooring repairs, flat-pack assembly, garden maintenance and pressure washing. Small enough that a big builder won't touch them, important enough that they shouldn't sit on your list for another six months.
How we work
Bookings are confirmed within the week, and you get a call if anything changes — not silence.
The minimum booking is 4 hours on site: $360 ($90/hr). Once a job runs past 4 hours, the full-day rate of $640 applies — a flat rate that includes travel and a daily break. Materials are extra, quoted and agreed before purchase. Jobs running more than one day are quoted individually before work begins.
Fully insured, and if something isn't right, tell us within 7 days and we'll come back and put it right.
